Lemongrass oil, also known as Fengmao oil, is an essential oil extracted from lemongrass of the Cymbopogon genus. Its main components include: East Indian type: citral (75%–85%), myrcene (20%), myrcene, geraniol, methyl heptenone, nerol, farnesol, and citronellal, among others. The composition varies depending on the origin. It is a pale yellow to light brown oily liquid with a fresh, sweet herbal aroma. Uses: Used as a raw material for isolating citral; blended into low-grade violet, osmanthus, rose, magnolia, lavender, and other fragrance types for soaps and daily cosmetics; also used in blending food flavors. It is an edible flavor permitted for use according to China's GB2760—1996 standards.
